Director General of DG NEAR Christian Danielson visited Tirana today to discuss Albania’s progress towards the five key priorities.
Mr Danielson met with President Bujari Nishani, Speaker Ilir Meta, Prime Minister Edi Rama and Opposition Chair Lulzim Basha. In his meetings, Mr Danielson noted the country’s progress towards the achievement of the five key priorities, but also next steps to be taken in order to successfully complete the judicial reform, further improve business climate and Albania’s overall reform progress.
He underlined that candidate country status brings more responsibilities for Albania to further deliver on the EU agenda. Mr Danielson said that the European Commission remains committed to Albania’s integration to the EU and will continue to closely monitor the integration process and assist the country in its reform efforts.
